- Read Technology in the Classroom
- On your blog, put today's date
- What are the top 3 things that are most remarkable in your mind? Describe them and the social & ethical issue that relates
- Choose one of the issues, and describe in 2-3 sentences what you would do to solve the problem
- Choose one of the "downsides of technology" and discuss in 3-4 sentences why it's a big problem. Discuss the origin of the problem, and a possible solution.

- Google your name, see what comes up

- 10-15 minutes - finish preparing your presentation
- Make sure you have at least 4 IT articles written
- Present presentations
Tuesday (10/5/10)
Warmup:
- Find and read an IT article
- Post to your wiki account the following information
- Today's date
- Link and title of the article
- Synopsis of the article
- Identify the stakeholders
- Identify AND describe the social and ethical issues related to the article
- Identify the area of impact (look at the front board on the left)
- What is your opinion of the issue? i.e. How does it affect you? How do you feel about that?
Agenda:
- You will be assigned an IT Social & Ethical Issue
- You will research your given issue in relation to "networks" or "the Internet" (e.g. find a problem or connection to networks or the Internet that relates to your issue)
- Example: Intellectual property + Internet = Music Piracy
- Create a powerpoint or OpenOffice presentation that contains the following:
- Technical definition of your social & ethical issue
- Your explanation of the definition to a 10 yr old
- Explanation of how your issue relates to the Internet (give a specific example of an issue)
- Graphics / Images
- List & describe stakeholders
- List & describe advantages / benefits
- List & describe disadvantages / costs
- Describe a possible solution to your issue

- Go to a computer retailer's website (e.g. Dell, HP, Sony, Apple, etc.)
- Find a DESKTOP computer that you would be interested in purchasing
- Go to Office->Open Office Writer and create a new document
- Put your name at the top of the document
- In your new document, copy and paste the link to the computer that you would like to purchase
- Copy and paste the "technical specifications" of the computer
- Save the file as Lastname_HW.odf
