10 Usability Heuristics

1. Buttons in Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer go inwards when the user presses them

2. I'm having trouble using this new software. I go to the menu bar at the top and search through Help.

3. Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, Ctrl-S are popular keyboard shortcuts.

4. Ctrl-S is the keyboard shortcut to Save the file. Although different programs are made by different companies, everybody agrees on using the word "Save" to save a file.

6. This website breaks this fundamental usability rule.

Mindstorms Demo

  • Using the LEGO Mindstorms software individually, program your robot to move forward a decent distance, turn around (180 degrees), and go back the same distance and turnaround again. Have your robot repeat this back and forth, so it should look like its pacing back and forth.
