Telecommuting

Technical definition: working at home by using a computer terminal electronically linked to one's place of employment.

Layman's definition: It is when one person uses a computer to connect to their business instead of going to an office.

Examples: A company may have telecommuting because it is cheaper to pay for the telephone or computer charges than it is to pay for an office building.
