• This article is about how bans on texting while driving have not really helped prevent crashes. In fact studies show that it has increased the amount of crashes in some states.

• Three things that are remarkable are that 51% of 8th graders say that they never used a computer to do school work. Only 4 states have 100% internet access in school. 50% of schools don't have CD-Rom drives.

• 2/3 of teens use abbreviations in their school work. We can change this by not accepting their work and making them do it again.

• The downside of technology is that not everyone has the access to it. This is a big problem because people in schools that have technology can learn more and faster than the people that don't have the technology.

1.The fact that careers are all but selected for students in India and China also allows them to focus more in particular fields, providing them the opportunity to take classes in that field before they are even out of high school. This drastically contrasts with American high school students who usually do not even think about their careers until they are preparing to apply to colleges and may even change their intended careers halfway through college. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Why?

• In China and India the fact that careers are selected for students sometimes I think hurts them because if a student is forced to go into a career that they don't have an interest in they might not do as well as they would if they did have interest in it. In the U.S students have the choice to choose a career that they have interest in or are good at. I am ok with students picking a career as late a halfway through college as long as they succeed in that career. In the movie the Indian and Chinese students don't get accepted into the college of their choice even though they work harder than American kids so in my opinion the Indian and Chinese students didn't succeed.

2.I think the students chosen to represent Americans were a pretty good depiction of some of the top students we have here. Do you agree or disagree? Why?

• I kind of agree because in the movie the American girl had a 3.9 G.P.A and she got accepted to Indiana college. The white boy got a full academic scholarship to Purdue which is really had to do. Most high school students don't get a full scholarship to a college unless they are athletic or real smart.

3.The purpose of viewing the video was to demonstrate a flat world - made flat by competing economies in China and India. And that happened because of the dot.com bubble which laid down the fiber optic cables connecting our country with theirs via the Internet. Now that you've finished viewing the video, what are some of your thoughts? Was it worthwhile to have viewed this video? Has it made you appreciate what you have? How can we say the world is flat and global all at the same time? Don't those images cancel each other out? Explain.

• Viewing this video was worthwhile because it showed us how the Indian and Chinese students view American education more lay back than their education. I disagree with this statement because some of us that are taking AP or IB classes sometimes have to stay up all night to do our homework. I appreciate the education that I receive because it is going to help me get a good job in the future. I think the world can never be flat because someone is always going to have an advantage over the other person.

• 1) In Europe an BMW employee gets paid 46 euros hourly while in the USA the same person gets 26 euros hourly.
• 2) I am surprised that Germany pays more money to their employees than USA because in Germany the GPD per capita is only $36,000 while the DPD per capita in the USA is $46,000.
• 3) Italy can offshore USA because they make expensive cars and if they send factories to the USA it would be cheaper to make them because the Euro is worth more than the dollar.

• This article is about how face book developer are steeling peoples UIDs and selling their information other companies for money. Those companies can send you information about their product.

• I think this is wrong for companies to buy peoples e-mail. I personally don't have a face book account so it doesn't effect me. I would be mad if a company found my e-mail and send me advertisements.
