Computer hardware assignment

Objective:

  • You will learn the different parts of a personal computer
  • You will learn to find computer parts online
  • You will compare and contrast pricing of building your own PC vs. buying one prebuilt

Resources:

Procedures:

  • You should already have found a pre-built PC from a computer retailer (e.g. Dell)
  • Using the on-line parts companies above, find the components of your pre-built machine
    • Case
    • Power supply
    • Motherboard
    • CPU
    • RAM (memory)
    • Hard drive
    • Video/graphics card
    • CD/DVD burner
    • Monitor
    • Keyboard
    • Mouse
  • For each part, copy and paste the following into your document:
    • The full name of the part (including make and model)
    • The cost
    • A picture
  • After you have "purchased" all the parts, at the end of the document, show the total cost of your machine.
