  3. Look for the computer's "technical specifications"
  4. Bookmark or save the link
  5. Open a Google spreadsheet document
  6. Share the spreadsheet with Mr. Bui
  7. Name the spreadsheet Computer Hardware Assignment
  8. Paste the link to the computer that you found in the Google spreadsheet somewhere visible
  9. Create 4 different headers: Component, Make/Model, Cost, Link
  10. Paste the following into the Component column of your spreadsheet:
    • Motherboard
    • CPU
    • RAM (memory)
    • Hard drive
    • Video/graphics card
    • CD/DVD burner
    • Case
    • Power supply
    • Monitor
    • Keyboard

  11. Using Newegg, find the components of your pre-built machine
    • Make sure that your components "match" up with the motherboard
  12. For each part, copy and paste the following into your document:
    • The full name of the part (including make and model) into the Make/Model column
    • The cost of the part in the Cost column
    • The link to the part's page in the Link column (in case you need to find it again)
  13. After you have "purchased" all the parts, at the bottom of the spreadsheet, total the cost of your machine
    • You should use the spreadsheet function =sum() <- watch Mr. Bui's demo!
  14. Show the cost of the manufactured machine in the cell below your total
  15. Use some spreadsheet magic and show the difference between your total and the manufactured computer
