• Artificial intelligence is a computer's ability that is thought to require intelligence.
• The major stakeholders are the stock holders, IBMs competition because with the success of this they need to make something better then that one, and it would effect company not directed towards it because IBM could easily made a device incorporated with the advance AI system.
• I think with the IBM Watson made, we will be able to have small AI systems to wake us up or to use as personal planners. But we will need to first get the IB Watson the ability to process sound and sight.

• Nintendo 3DS comes out
• Nintendo will release the new Nintendo 3DS on March 27th. This new game counsel allow s a person to view their games in 3D without the need for special glasses or anything. Right now there isn't anything like this in the world, so the want for 3ds is top demand. Many people are concern that watching stuff in 3D is bad for your eyes, but the 3DS comes with an option that allows you to change it to 2D mode. It has all the features of the old nintedo lite or XL and it allows you to transfer anything you had on those DS's onto your 3DS model. they even have an option where it alows you to tkae a picture of your self and it will come out in Mii(an animated avatar you can make in the Wii)form.
• If the 3ds is not properly tested Nintendo might loose lots of money.
• Any other gaming company would have to make a better version of it and would have to make it cheaper then its cheap price.
• The social ethical issues are:
  • Reliability because we are amusing that ti will work even though it has a cheap price.
  • Policies and standards because everything that is released has some polices and standards that they have to follow.
• It greatly affects the art, Entertainment and leisure area because everyone is gonna want to buy the game and the other gaming companies would have to make something better and cheaper or else they will go out of business.
• This doesn't really affect me because i dont buy games anymore but i think its good that they are gonna make a game that will allow people to see it in 3D without goggle.

• Blackberry patent problems
• The article states that the patent over the the blackberry's wireless email is being infringed. The Canadian made blackberry is being sold in America but there is an American patent already on the blackberry.The American company with control over it is RIM. The Canadian company would be NTP. RIM has 8 patents over the Blackberry and NTPis using 5 of them. RIM wants NTP to stop selling Blackberrys and stop providing service to people in America. But Congress staved off the non selling because after 9/11, congress ordered every facility member to have a blackberry because the terrorist blocked cell phones.
• The stake holders are NTP because they are being sued. RIM because their invention is being sold against their will. Americans who use blackberries would loose service from their internet.
• People and machines because over 100 million people in America uses blackberry.
• Arts, leisure and entertainment is being affected because blackberrys are uses for entertainment and leisure sometimes.
• I feel like the issue is still rather confusing and should be held off until they can get things settled privately, and i don't think RIM should forced NTP to shut down service in America.

• The Privacy of Facebook users are not protected as much as they want to be
• The Facebook users identifications that use Facebook aplications are being sold to companies.
• The Privacy of the Facebook Users are being affected, Their identifications are being sold to compainies so that the Companiese have a list of emails to send stuff to facebook users
• Business and Employment because Facebook is making money by not having its privacy level high
• I feel like facebook should not have the right to do this, because this makes Facebook users not want to use Apps beause their emails are being sold to companies that will spam them with JUNK.

• What is the hourly salary of one of the newly hired BMW U.S. autoworkers? What is the hourly salary of the same autoworker if they worked in Germany?
  • The hourly Salary of a 15 dollars an hour, The hourly salary of an autoworker in Germany is doubled.

• Are you surprised by the pay differential between the U.S. and Germany? Why or why not?
  • I am not surprised because Germanys economy is getting better and better and it pays with euros. Euros are the Europeon Union money and its value is worth more then USA's money. This reminds me when i was in china, i was byting water and it cost 1 yen and over here it cost 1 usa dollar, so it could be that it pays the same value of amount of money but sence Euro is worth more Germany people get more moeny.

• Can you think of other industries and/or countries that would offshore to the U.S.? Explain.
  • If the cost of production is cheeper in the USA
  • Countries that are more indutstial then USA but smaller or if they are consuming more goods then they are producing.

10/17/10 - 10/20/10, 2 Million Minutes

Watch "2 Million Minutes" Answer the following questions in short answer/essay form:

1. The fact that careers are all but selected for students in India and China also allows them to focus more in particular fields, providing them the opportunity to take classes in that field before they are even out of high school. This drastically contrasts with American high school students who usually do not even think about their careers until they are preparing to apply to colleges and may even change their intended careers halfway through college. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Why?

• This is both a good thing and bad thing, because if a child thats 10 year old and that child is deciding their future, that might not be the future they want to be in 20 years, vs when your older and more mature you will be able to make a more reasonable choice. but if your young and getting ready for your job, you will have more experience and also when your young your ability to learn new things is better then if you are older.

2 I think the students chosen to represent Americans were a pretty good depiction of some of the top students we have here. Do you agree or disagree? Why?

• I agree with the choices, because we can see that the American boy was playing video games,clubs, sports, and date people and most American boys do, It is true that alot of Americans do not know what they want to do when they grow up, and the 2 American kids were somewhat diferent which allows the video to demostrate the diferent ways Americans achive their goals.

3 The purpose of viewing the video was to demonstrate a flat world - made flat by competing economies in China and India. And that happened because of the dot.com bubble which laid down the fiber optic cables connecting our country with theirs via the Internet. Now that you've finished viewing the video, what are some of your thoughts? Was it worthwhile to have viewed this video? Has it made you appreciate what you have? How can we say the world is flat and global all at the same time? Don't those images cancel each other out? Explain.

• As a child of Chinese parents i understand whats the 2 Chinese kids are going though, and since I was raised in America I know what the Americans think like, and now that i watched the video I agree with most of it, American kids somewhat does not understand what the value of what they have, somewhat slack off with tons of distractions and Stuff like facebook, video games, TV, and social life. As seen in the video the Chinese and India kids had a uniform and low tech, this is a somewhat good thing, if you have no dress code and low tech that means less distractions and more time to study and not goof off/socialize. This might be my own small opnion but as you see in the video, when the 3 countries are eating dinner, we see China and India eating together and talking, VS US some were watching TV, and not really talking to each other as a family more like they were just there. I noticed another thing the boys from US and China were thinking of college very differently, we see the Chinese boy taking tons and tons of prep classes, and we see the boy asking for an Xbox big difference their.
• I think this video is worthwhile because it shows the big difference between 3 different countries and makes you think of whats going on in the world. As we saw the India boy imagine what his life would be if he was in America, but American kids dont think of what type of life they could be living if they were in another countries.
• This surprisingly hasn't made me appreciate what i have that much, because i saw that every one of the kids had computers but still I should not but for some reason i don't feel more. but now that i watched the last 5 minutes of the video, I now apreacate what i have now bc we see that even though all those kids are very smart and very skilled, if there is too many very smart and very skilled people it wont matter, so what they call not good there, over here it will be super good so thats probully why people from China and India are moving here.
• The world is flat and global because the goal of EVERYONE(or at least everyone in the video) is to have a good life and good job and thus the world is flat, but the world is global because the everyone has their own ways of achieving this goal,where they live, financial abilities, and each countries unique obstacles to stop them from getting it

• Tech in Classroom
• i found it interesting that....
  • that only 64% of schools have Internet access, Equality of access
  • only 19% of 11th graders uses the computers for work, and 37% of seniors don't use the computer for school work, Equality of access
  • students of the 7th grade 97% cant tell a hoax website from a real one, Privacy and Anomyity.
• i find the problem that 7th grade students cant tell a hoax from a really one really bad so, i think sense the we are living in a growing age of technology we need a small class for 6th graders(because that's when some people start middle school) to tell about Internet hoaxes and stuff
• the horrible downside of technology is that peoples grades are being lowed because of facebook, this is probably because when they do their work facebook is up and this will cause distractions in it and making work more bad and you dont learn because your mind will be on the person your chatting and not on your work.
  • the problem probably originated from the need to talk and would rather talk then do homework.
  • a solution would be a very simple one, and that would be to realize that your grade would be better if you sacrifice a few minutes of facebook

• 5 things Andriod phones will never change
• the Andriod OS is open source(which let people modify it and add ther own apps) however the phone allow google apps gmail, google voice, etc.

this causes user problems which some apps dont work well with the phone

• the apps of the Android does not go through an aprovel proccess so they migh be extreamly glitchy
• One of the problems with open_source nature of the Andriod is that the phone will bhave too much useless stuff on it, like if you get a new Dell Computer it will have hundreds of trail thigns on it, this happens with the andriod and they cant stop it because there are no restrictions.
• They dontprovide updates, or they dont care of providing updates so there is too many versions of Andriod devices
• the phone has many patent issures which might haunt them with many law suits.
• If this countinues the Andriod phone might loose tons of sales and cause the google stock market to crash
• If the andriod phone stops working this will make people loose faith in google and cause a google to crash
• this affects Business and Employment, and lesiure

I think that even though there are alot of issues this will not affect the andriod sale market that much

• Twitter surpasses Myspace
• if Myspace countines to go down it might go to the point where barely no one is using it,
• the coumpanies that advertise off Myspace will go to other coumpanies based off popularity. If Myspace closes down myspace users already using it to will have to switch making other social networks more populer.
• this willl affect machine and people because if myspace gets closed down people ill have to use othe social networks to use. And Technically this can happen to Facebook, and Twitter if a better network comes up.
• Business and Employment will be affected because anyone who paid myspace or used myspace as a sorce of income will either loose there jobs find a diferent consumer.
• I thik this issue tells how great things cant last forever, I remember that a few years ago Myspace was the thing to get, the most populer, then out of no where a new facebook comes out and BAM myspace starts going down. The only way this will affect me is that too many people were to join facebook and facebook caused the users to pay some money to join it. I would think Facebook would loose lots of people and thats the reaen why facebook hasnt started to make people pay to join.

• China unicorn's sales are not as high as much as they should be, so they are starting to sell the iphone 4 in CHINA :DD to get more sells. this aritical says how the iphone will be sold and. Apple coumpany thinks that sending the iphone to china will boost its sales.
• this will affect citizens of china, the apple coumpanie's sale, China unicorn
• this will raise the apples populariety
• this affects my family bc my family is gonna be buying these i phones.
• Iphone sales in china fails
• the iphone was sold in china last year except the sales in chian did not go so well, apple did not want to change one thing for the iphone nad made people in china pay more to use it. so selling it in china might be risky bc no one might want to buuy it sence last year

• Yahoo CEO saays that the apple's new Iad willl fall apart the goal of apple Iad was to make a more engaging ads

so far only a few advertisers have been choosen to make ads for it but Channel said that it will fail becaue apple wanted to too much control ocer the creativness of the ad.

• this affects yahoo in a business way because yahoo is prepareing its future for mobile centric future, they already spent alot of money for this, right now yahoo is making every new product a mobile thought in there minds.

• The control of the ads gone, and the interlectual property of the design will be gone. Apple made new polices and standards for ads.
