Warmup:
- Read and blog about the following article: A Bandwidth Breakthrough
- Link and title of the article
- Synopsis of the article -- What exactly did the researchers do to achieve their results?
- Identify the stakeholders (people who have a vested interest in the scenario)
- Identify the areas of impact (look at the front board on the left)
- Identify AND describe any social or ethical issues related to the article
- What is your opinion of the issue? i.e. How does it affect you? How do you feel about that?
- What positive and negative impacts will result?
- Give a couple examples of specific places that this technology may be helpful in peoples' day-to-day activities
- Article discussion
- Brief introduction to wireless transmissions
- Complete Download: Part 2 - Search

- IDT Programming Contest
- Design contest - given a problem scenario, create the solution
- Teams of 2-3 people
- Runs from early December to mid February
- Prizes for students and schools
- RFID Presentations (3 examples per area of impact)

- Advantages and benefits of using RFID in that area
- Disadvantages and concerns for using RFID in that area

Warmup:
- Watch TED Talk: Jeff Han demos his breakthrough touchscreen
- Answer the following on your blog:
- What is the date of the talk?
- What was the announcement date of the first iPhone?
- What are your initial reactions to watching this video?
- What are some uses of multi-touch technology? Describe the devices.
- Describe the advantages to using multi-touch (i.e. why is it better than a keyboard or mouse?)
- Describe the disadvantages to using multi-touch (i.e. why is it not better than a keyboard or mouse?)
- Describe how multi-touch can be used in 2 different areas of impact (that are not Home & Leisure). Give specific examples and name the areas of impact.

- Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR)
- Smart cards vs. Credit cards
- Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

- Receive your group assignment (3 ppl per group) and area of impact
- Research how RFIDs are used in that area of impact
- Find at least 1 example per person
- Create a Google presentation that presents your team's findings
- Be sure to include the following:

- Complete the Computer hardware assignment
- Be sure to share with Mr. Bui
- Study all the different hardware components and what they do

- Go to Quizlet
- Create an account
- Join our WL_ITGS class
- Receive your vocab numbers
- Go go the Networking Vocab Spreadsheet and add the definitions for your numbers
- Mr. Bui will create a class set of vocab words on Quizlet using the spreadsheet
- Play with Quizlet games
- Take the Networking Vocab Quizlet Test before the end of class
- Print out the resulting test and its score
